WATERPROOFING SYSTEM IN SWIMMING POOL

One of the often found problems in swimming pools is the leakage through foundation. How to prevent this problem

Problem

Waterproofing system should be applied with pools

Waterproofing system should be applied with pools, fountains, water tanks, or drainpipes during the construction period in order to prevent the loss of water. Remedial Waterproofing can be a risky and costly operation.

Cement block walls can not prevent water ingress.

Cement-rendered, concrete, or cement block walls can not prevent water ingress.

waterproofing system can resists only one side

If the selected waterproofing system can resists only positive (water in the pool) or negative (underground water) water pressure, it can not be completely watertight.

Structures can not be expected to be totally rigid

Structures can not be expected to be totally rigid and even small movements can lead to cracking allowing water ingress.

Reinforced concrete can be damaged from corrosion

Reinforced concrete can be damaged from corrosion that causes by permeable water and air through the surfaces.

Painting should not be a waterproofing layer.

Painting or tiling layer should not be considered to be a waterproofing layer. Therefore, a proper under-tile waterproofing system should always be applied.

A proper waterproofing system

A proper waterproofing system should;

1. Resist to both positive and negative water pressure

2. Resist to the changes of temperature

3. Resist to the acidity and alkali (pH) in water
